MALVERN, PA — The Institutes Agent & Broker Group and The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (The Council) have announced the re-launch of the Professional Risk Consultant (PRC®) designation. This initiative marks a significant extension of their longstanding partnership, aiming to provide top-tier educational opportunities for early career insurance agents and brokers.
Recognizing the critical need for quality education, both organizations have combined forces to create a program designed to boost the confidence and skills of newcomers in the industry. The PRC designation draws on proven content and delivery techniques from both The Institutes and The Council’s Insurance Professional School, part of The Council Academy’s talent development efforts.
Peter Miller, CPCU, President and CEO of The Institutes, highlighted the collaboration’s impact, stating, “We are combining The Council’s deep expertise and relationships within the brokerage community with The Institutes’ established track record of educating, elevating, and connecting professionals in risk management and insurance. This collaboration allows us to provide a streamlined, impactful designation program that supports the development of early career professionals.”
Joel Wood, President and CEO of The Council, echoed this enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled to launch the PRC designation and expand on our long-standing, successful partnership with The Institutes. By leveraging our collective networks and capabilities, we’ll be able to extend our reach to train and retain the next generation of insurance professionals.”
To earn the PRC designation, participants must complete two core courses, three Micro-Certs, and an ethics course. The program is accessible through three distinct paths:
- On-Demand: Offers 100% on-demand, self-study courses with virtual exams available 24/7.
- Insurance Professional School (Open Enrollment): Participants enrolled in The Council’s Insurance Professional School will earn their PRC as part of the program, featuring live cohort discussions led by risk management experts and University of Georgia faculty.
- Company-Sponsored Live Cohort: This option enhances the on-demand method with weekly online, live discussions led by subject matter experts.
This re-launch exemplifies the efforts of both organizations to fostering expertise and professionalism in the insurance field, ensuring that emerging professionals are well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry.
