WAYNE, PA — Ecovyst Inc. (NYSE: ECVT) has completed its acquisition of the Calabrian sulfur dioxide and related sulfur derivatives business from INEOS Enterprises, expanding the specialty chemicals company’s product portfolio and increasing its presence in industrial and specialty end markets.
The acquisition moves Ecovyst beyond its traditional sulfuric acid business by adding sulfur dioxide and related sulfur derivatives, strengthening its position in mining and water treatment while opening opportunities in food processing and pharmaceutical applications.
The transaction is part of Ecovyst’s strategy to diversify its revenue base and increase exposure to higher-value chemical markets. The company expects the acquired business to contribute through its existing profitability and cash generation, as well as operational synergies.
“The completion of the Calabrian acquisition marks an important step in expanding Ecovyst’s capabilities beyond sulfuric acid into sulfur dioxide and related derivatives,” Chief Executive Officer Kurt J. Bitting said. “This transaction expands our platform of leading sulfur solutions by diversifying our product portfolio, enhancing our participation in attractive end use applications, and supporting our strategies focused on driving higher-value growth for the benefit of our stockholders.”
Bitting added that Calabrian’s “strong margins and cash generation capability, together with identified synergy opportunities,” are expected to “contribute meaningfully to our future financial performance.”
Calabrian expands Ecovyst’s sulfur-based offerings into markets that complement the company’s existing operations while broadening its customer base across multiple industrial sectors.
The acquisition also brings Calabrian’s workforce into Ecovyst. “We are pleased to welcome the Calabrian team to Ecovyst, and we look forward to leveraging their expertise as we execute on our growth strategies on a combined basis,” Bitting said.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
