WAYNE, PA — Radian Group Inc. (NYSE: RDN) appointed Mike Weinbach as chief executive officer effective August 12, placing a veteran mortgage and financial services executive in charge as the insurer integrates its acquisition of Lloyd’s specialty insurer Inigo Limited and expands beyond its core mortgage business.

Weinbach also joined Radian’s board, completing a leadership transition first disclosed May 21. He succeeds Rick Thornberry, who will remain a strategic adviser until retiring December 31.

The change follows Radian’s February 2 acquisition of Inigo and the divestiture of other businesses the company identified as noncore.

Those transactions repositioned Radian around mortgage and specialty insurance, broadening its operations into a more diversified international insurance business.

Weinbach most recently served as president of Mr. Cooper Group, where he oversaw the mortgage servicer’s acquisition by Rocket Companies in 2025.

At Mr. Cooper, he also led technology initiatives and supported expansion of the company’s mortgage servicing and loan origination portfolios.

Before that role, Weinbach was chief executive officer of consumer lending at Wells Fargo, overseeing home, auto, student and personal loans, credit cards and merchant services.

He managed an organization of more than 40,000 employees and served on Wells Fargo’s operating committee.

Weinbach previously spent 16 years at JPMorgan Chase, ultimately leading Chase Home Lending after holding positions across consumer banking, business banking, mortgage lending and auto finance.

He began his career as a mergers and acquisitions investment banker at Citigroup.

“My confidence in the company’s future has only grown as I have spent time with our talented team and seen firsthand our differentiated approach to delivering value for customers, stockholders, and other stakeholders,” Weinbach stated.

Non-Executive Board Chairperson Howard Culang attributed the appointment to Weinbach’s experience managing large financial services operations and strategic transitions.

Thornberry led Radian as chief executive for nine years.

Weinbach holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
