iPipeline Opens Annuity Workflows to Outside Platforms

iPipeline

WAYNE, PA — iPipeline launched an application programming interface hub that allows financial institutions and technology providers to embed annuity processing directly into their existing platforms, extending the Wayne-based insurance technology company’s push to connect life insurance, annuity and wealth-management workflows.

The Novera API Hub initially offers a product called Headless Annuities, which gives carriers, broker-dealers, independent marketing organizations, financial institutions and wealth-technology providers access to annuity functions without requiring advisers to move between separate systems.

Headless Annuities uses iPipeline’s AFFIRM execution engine to provide annuity processing, validation and compliance capabilities through APIs that organizations can incorporate into their own digital interfaces and workflows.

The approach separates iPipeline’s underlying processing technology from the customer-facing interface, allowing clients to design their own digital experiences while using iPipeline infrastructure in the background.

“Advisors shouldn’t have to leave the platforms they rely on every day to access critical annuity capabilities,” iPipeline Chief Executive Officer Pat O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell said the API hub is intended to move those functions closer to the systems advisers already use.

The Novera API Hub also includes a testing environment where developers can access documentation, review endpoints and schema definitions, and test demonstration annuity APIs using sample data before deploying integrations.

The launch reflects a broader shift toward API-based integration as financial-services companies seek to modernize technology without replacing entire platforms or adding separate interfaces for individual products.

iPipeline plans to add more API-based capabilities to Novera in the coming months as part of a broader effort to connect digital processes across life insurance, annuities and wealth management.

“Headless Annuities is the first step in a comprehensive product roadmap,” Chief Product Officer Katie Kahl said.

The company did not specify which capabilities will be added next or provide a timetable beyond the coming months.
