CCIU Honors Employees, Retirees at Annual Awards Ceremony

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Chester County Intermediate Unit recognized employees, retirees, and community partners during its annual awards ceremony on Thursday at the Technical College High School Pickering Campus.

The event honored staff members reaching 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service, recipients of the Outstanding Service Awards, 26 retirees representing more than 542 combined years of service, and four former employees inducted into the CCIU Hall of Fame.

The ceremony also included presentation of the Annie Sullivan Award, which recognizes service to special needs learners. This year’s award was presented to Cassandra McCoy, preschool educational services coordinator.

“Receiving the Annie Sullivan Award is such a huge honor,” McCoy said. “I feel so lucky to have a job that I genuinely enjoy.”

Prepared to Thrive was also recognized during the event for its work supporting families with babies and toddlers.

“The annual CCIU Awards Ceremony continues to be a meaningful tradition, highlighting the commitment, passion, and impact of those who advance the CCIU’s mission each day,” said Dr. George F. Fiore, executive director of the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

Maureen Linahan, director of the CCIU human resources division, said the Outstanding Service Awards reflect the organization’s workplace culture and employee contributions.

The CCIU inducted four retired employees into its Hall of Fame:

  • Mary Jeanne Curley, former director of the Communications and Learning Solutions division
  • Jenise Lemon, former Young Parent Program educator
  • Brian McGinley, former training and consultation specialist
  • Deb Silveri-Hiller, former special education supervisor

The ceremony was emceed by Fiore and attended by CCIU Board President Bonnie J. Wolff and division directors. Culinary students from the Technical College High School prepared food for the event, while floral arrangements were provided by the CCIU Learning Center horticulture program.
