PennDOT Schedules Resurfacing Work on Philadelphia Highways Next Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a series of resurfacing operations next week on several major state highways in Philadelphia, part of a broader effort to repair more than 200 miles of roadway across the five-county region.

From Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, lane closures will take place during daytime and overnight hours at multiple locations:

  • Broad Street (Route 611): Between Oregon Avenue and I-95, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for milling and inlet and manhole repair.
  • Kelly Drive: Between 25th Street and Ridge Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for inlet and manhole repair.
  • Veree Road: Between Bustleton Avenue and Oxford Avenue, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for paving.
  • Rising Sun Avenue: Between Cottman Avenue and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard), September 10–12, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for paving.
  • Oregon Avenue: Between Broad Street and Columbus Boulevard, September 11–12, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for milling.

PennDOT urged drivers to allow extra time when traveling through these corridors, noting that congestion and delays should be expected. All work is dependent on weather conditions.

The resurfacing projects involve milling, paving, and roadway repairs designed to extend the life of state highways and provide smoother, safer driving conditions.
