BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of the highway.
From Tuesday, September 2, through Friday, September 5, a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for rumble strip installation.
Additionally, during the same dates, overnight lane closures will occur from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
This work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract, which involves reconstructing and widening U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, as backups and delays are expected. All activities are weather dependent.
