UPPER MERION TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has released details about upcoming roadway work on U.S. 422, impacting Montgomery and Chester counties. The planned activities include roadway reconstruction, core borings, and the replacement of traffic cameras, set to occur from June 2 through June 6.
Key travel restrictions will be in place during the following times and locations:
- Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County
- Westbound U.S. 422, between the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass and Route 23 interchange, will see lane closures from Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for traffic camera replacement.
- Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County
- Lane closures on eastbound U.S. 422, between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) interchanges, are scheduled nightly from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM for roadway reconstruction.
- North Coventry Township, Chester County
- Westbound U.S. 422, between the Route 100 and Stowe (Grosstown Road) interchanges, will face lane closures from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for core borings.
- Additionally, the ramp from eastbound U.S. 422 to southbound Route 100 will be closed during the same time frame for core borings. Motorists traveling to southbound Route 100 will be detoured via the Stowe exit, where they will reenter U.S. 422 westbound to complete their route.
Motorists are urged to plan for increased travel time and potential delays when driving through these work zones. All construction activities are weather dependent and may be subject to change based on conditions.
The traffic camera replacement is an effort to upgrade the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) across the five-county Philadelphia region.
PennDOT advises all drivers to exercise heightened caution and remain alert when traveling in these work areas to maintain the safety of workers and other motorists.
