KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has revealed plans for construction next week on U.S. 422 in North Coventry and West Pottsgrove townships, Chester County, as well as Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County. The work will involve lane closures, detours, and exploratory drilling in preparation for roadway improvements.
From Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30, the following closures and detours will be in effect to facilitate geotechnical drilling and test borings:
- Westbound U.S. 422 between Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Grosstown Road: Lane closures from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 between Keim Street and Grosstown Road: Lane closures from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Ramps connecting Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) to eastbound and westbound U.S. 422: Closed and detoured from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, with motorists directed to follow posted detours for access.
- Eastbound U.S. 422 between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges: Lane closures from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and allow additional travel time when navigating through these areas. All work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of adverse conditions.
The scheduled construction is part of PennDOT’s broader efforts to ensure the safety and efficiency of U.S. 422. These projects aim to support long-term roadway improvements, addressing both modern traffic demands and infrastructure maintenance.
Motorists are encouraged to remain vigilant, comply with posted signs, and approach work zones with caution to ensure their safety and that of construction crews.
