Woman Found Gravely Injured on Trail Dies at Hospital

WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have launched a death investigation after a Wilmington woman was found seriously injured along a trail in Alapocas Run State Park and later died at a hospital.

According to state police, troopers and Delaware Natural Resources Police responded at approximately 10:45 p.m. Saturday to the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail in Alapocas Run State Park for a report of CPR in progress.

Investigators said responding officers found 45-year-old Lori Rogers of Wilmington suffering from what police described as obvious physical injuries. Troopers attempted life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived, according to authorities.

Police said Rogers was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Due to what investigators described as suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

According to state police, Rogers’ body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, which will determine the cause and manner of death.

Investigators said the case remains active. Police stated there is currently no perceived danger to the public.
