WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police reported arresting a 21-year-old woman Sept. 2 in connection with an Aug. 31 stabbing that left another 21-year-old woman critically injured.
Police reported that officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East 3rd Street at approximately 4:48 a.m. Aug. 31 for an injured woman.
Officers located a 21-year-old woman suffering from a stabbing injury, according to police. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division. During the investigation, police identified 21-year-old Nachaela Rutto as a suspect and obtained warrants for her arrest.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2, police attempted to serve the warrants in the 300 block of North Lombard Street, where Rutto was located and taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Investigators allege the incident was domestic in nature.
Rutto was charged with first-degree attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, according to police.
Police reported that Rutto was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
