Police Seek Two Men in Deadly South Philly Robbery Probe

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men who investigators believe may have information related to a fatal shooting during an apparent robbery in South Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit, the investigation stems from the shooting death of a 22-year-old man at approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 6 in the 1900 block of Durfor Street.

Investigators reported that surveillance footage captured two unidentified individuals walking in the area of 20th Street between Ritner and Jackson streets before encountering the victim near the intersection of 20th and Durfor streets.

According to police, the victim was fatally shot during what investigators described as an apparent robbery. Authorities said the two individuals later fled on foot and were last seen near 22nd and Porter streets.

Police reported that surveillance footage shows the individuals discarding hooded sweatshirts and face coverings while fleeing the area.

The Homicide Unit has released surveillance images and descriptions of the two men as investigators work to identify and locate them. Police described one individual as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin-to-medium build, wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt and a black face covering. The second individual was described as a Black male standing approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, wearing dark clothing and a gray camouflage-patterned face covering.

No arrests have been announced.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the homicide or the identities of the individuals to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335.

The City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
