Pennsylvania Man Arrested at Airport on Child Sex Crime Charges

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 50-year-old Mechanicsburg man wanted on multiple felony child sex crime charges was arrested Saturday after arriving at Philadelphia International Airport on a flight from Qatar, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

CBP officers reported arresting Dev Poudel, 50, after his flight arrived from Doha, Qatar. Authorities subsequently turned Poudel over to detectives with the Upper Allen Township Police Department.

According to CBP, Poudel was wanted in Mechanicsburg on charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person younger than 13, corruption of minors by a defendant age 18 or older, and endangering the welfare of children by a parent, guardian or other person.

CBP Area Port Director Elliott N. Ortiz described the allegations as serious and credited cooperation between federal and local law enforcement with Poudel’s arrest.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
