HARRISBURG, PA — A North Carolina man is facing felony drug trafficking charges after investigators alleged he transported more than 22 ounces of cocaine into northeastern Pennsylvania for distribution.
According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Orlando M. Horton, 46, was arrested following an investigation by the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police and Homeland Security Investigations into suspected cocaine trafficking in the Wilkes-Barre area.
Investigators alleged Horton traveled from North Carolina to Pennsylvania with a supply of cocaine. On July 16, law enforcement officers stopped Horton’s vehicle, but authorities allege he fled on foot and discarded contraband before he was apprehended.
According to investigators, authorities recovered more than 22 ounces of cocaine, as well as marijuana and cash, from the arrest scene.
Horton was charged with possession with intent to deliver, flight and related offenses. He was arraigned in Luzerne County, where bail was denied after a magisterial district judge determined he posed a flight risk, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
The case is being prosecuted by the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
