Schuylkill Township Sets Meeting on Municipal Complex Expansion

Schuylkill Township

SCHUYLKILL TWP, PA — Schuylkill Township supervisors will hold a special meeting on November 4 to consider a municipal complex renovation and expansion project supported by $1.15 million in state grants, potentially advancing plans to modernize facilities used by township administration, police, and public works.

The Board of Supervisors has scheduled the meeting for 6 p.m. at the Schuylkill Township Municipal Building, 111 Valley Park Road, Phoenixville, according to a public notice.

The notice identifies the Municipal Complex Project as the meeting’s purpose and authorizes supervisors to deliberate and take action on business brought before the board.

The project would renovate and expand municipal facilities serving several township departments, addressing infrastructure used for government administration, law enforcement, and public works operations.

Planning has reached the design and construction-document phase, with documents being developed for both a base design and a reduced-scope alternative.

The alternatives give township officials different options for determining the extent of construction before the project advances.

Schuylkill Township has secured $1.15 million in state funding toward the undertaking, including $350,000 through Pennsylvania’s statewide Local Share Account program and $800,000 through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

The grants provide funding for the planned improvements, although the meeting notice does not specify which project decisions supervisors may consider November 4.

In particular, the notice does not identify a proposed construction contract, final project scope, financing arrangement or bidding authorization.

The meeting could provide an opportunity for supervisors to address those matters as the township works toward determining how to proceed with the renovation and expansion.

The project involves facilities supporting essential municipal functions, making decisions about its design and financing relevant to township operations and public expenditures.

The special meeting is open to the public and will take place Wednesday, November 4, at 6 p.m. at 111 Valley Park Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
