PHILADELPHIA, PA — Zahav Foods expanded distribution of its restaurant-style hummus products to 32 GIANT grocery stores across Pennsylvania as the Philadelphia-based brand continues to grow its retail footprint beyond specialty and natural food chains.
The consumer packaged goods company, co-founded by restaurateurs Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook in 2024, announced GIANT will carry both the original 10-ounce Zahav Hummus product and Zahav Hummus Snack Cups in refrigerated sections statewide.
GIANT will serve as the exclusive major Pennsylvania grocery retailer carrying the single-serve snack cup format, according to the company.
“We’re thrilled to bring Zahav Hummus to GIANT shoppers across Pennsylvania,” Solomonov and Cook said. “Zahav Hummus is kosher-certified, so it’s an especially proud moment to be at the Wynnewood GIANT, home to one of the most extensive kosher departments in the area.”
The hummus brand is based on the recipe served at Zahav, the flagship Philadelphia restaurant operated by Solomonov and Cook. The pair also operate Laser Wolf, K’Far and Federal Donuts & Chicken.
Zahav Foods stated that the product contains six ingredients — tehina, chickpeas, lemon juice, salt, cumin and garlic — and uses a higher concentration of roasted tehina than traditional grocery-store hummus products.
The company first launched Zahav Hummus at Whole Foods Market stores in January 2024 before expanding nationwide later that year. Snack cups debuted in Harris Teeter stores in 2025, while the company introduced a flavored variety, Zahav Hummus Schug, earlier this year.
Zahav Foods products are now sold through GIANT, Whole Foods Market, Harris Teeter, Wegmans, McCaffrey’s and other independent retailers nationwide.
