According to PennDOT, lane closures will be in place on northbound I-95 between Packer Avenue and Christian Street during overnight construction hours.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect backups and slower traffic conditions while crews complete roadway and bridge-related improvements. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and seek alternate routes when possible.
PennDOT said the operations are part of a broader $56.1 million interstate bridge repair project focused on maintaining the safety and functionality of critical transportation corridors throughout the region.
Under the project, contractors will repair deteriorated bridge decks, steel components, concrete structures, expansion joints, guiderails, overhead sign supports, and bridge bearings. Additional improvements include repainting overhead sign structures and upgrading roadway lighting to LED fixtures.
IEW Construction Group, Inc., of Hamilton, New Jersey, is the general contractor for the federally funded project.
All scheduled activities remain weather dependent and could change if conditions warrant.
