Weekend Ramp Closure Planned on I-76 for Bridge Repairs in Philadelphia

Interstate 76

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Motorists using the Schuylkill Expressway should prepare for detours this weekend as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) closes the ramp from westbound I-76 to U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339) for bridge repair work.

The ramp will be closed from 8:00 PM Friday, November 21, to 5:00 AM Monday, November 24, while crews perform structural repairs as part of a larger infrastructure improvement project. During the closure, drivers will be detoured to continue west on I-76, exit at Gladwyne (Exit 337), turn left onto Hollow Road, and re-enter I-76 East to access the U.S. 1 South (City Avenue) ramp.

PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling through the area, as significant backups and delays are expected. The repair work is weather dependent.

The bridge improvements are part of PennDOT’s $41.3 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of I-76, including associated ramps and more than 20 bridges throughout Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
