Venango Street Restrictions Could Bring Frustrating Delays

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers should prepare for daytime lane restrictions and possible traffic backups on Venango Street as crews work on the Interstate 95 bridge overhead in Northeast Philadelphia.

At a Glance

  • Roads Affected: Venango Street between Bath Street and Allen Street
  • Dates: Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7
  • Times: 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Reason: Overhead I-95 bridge construction

Periodic lane closures will be in place throughout the work periods, with flaggers directing traffic through the construction area.

No detour was announced. Drivers should plan extra time because backups and delays may occur, particularly during heavier daytime travel periods. Seek alternate routes when practical and remain alert for flaggers, workers and changing traffic patterns.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions are unfavorable.

The restrictions are part of PennDOT’s $311 million I-95/AF3 project, which will reconstruct and widen 1.3 miles of Interstate 95 in both directions between Tioga Street and Wheatsheaf Lane.
