WILMINGTON, DE — Vasco Electronics introduced a new handheld translation device aimed at travelers and business users as companies continue competing to simplify real-time multilingual communication without relying on smartphones or subscription services.
The Vasco Translator M4 is designed for one-on-one spoken conversations and includes support for 86 languages in voice translation and 113 languages in photo translation, according to the company.
The launch reflects growing demand for standalone translation hardware targeting international travel, business communication, and institutional use cases where privacy and ease of use are priorities.
The device uses a single-button interface intended to reduce on-screen interaction during conversations and includes an automatic language-detection feature for hands-free exchanges.
Vasco described the M4 as offering lifetime global internet connectivity without roaming charges or Wi-Fi requirements. The company also noted the product was designed to comply with European GDPR data privacy standards and allows users to permanently delete translation histories.
The device includes a 13-megapixel Sony image sensor for translating printed text such as menus and signs, along with enhanced speakers and microphone systems designed for use in noisy environments.
Company executives positioned the product as an alternative to smartphone-based translation tools that can require multiple apps, subscriptions, or complex interfaces.
“The M4 is more than just a translator; it’s a restorer of independence for all users,” Chief Executive Officer Maciej Góralski stated. “We built it for the explorer who wants to ensure technology is never a barrier to a genuine human connection.”
Tomasz Stomski, Vasco’s chief product officer, described the company’s focus as reducing friction during conversations through physical controls and simplified operation.
The Vasco Translator M4 weighs 3.7 ounces and is available in several color options, including Matte Black, Frosty Turquoise, and Misty Purple.
The device is priced at $429.
