KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace plans to enter Pennsylvania with a King of Prussia grocery store in late 2027, extending the specialty grocer beyond its established New York and New Jersey footprint as it expands across the Northeast.
The new marketplace is planned for DeKalb Plaza at 320 W. DeKalb Pike. The company also plans to open a store at East Gate Square in Moorestown, New Jersey, in late 2027, giving it a new presence in South Jersey and further extending its reach across the Philadelphia region.
RIPCO Real Estate brokered both leases. Specific opening dates and store hours have not yet been released.
“Pennsylvania has been part of our growth plans for a while, and King of Prussia is a great place for us to start,” Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Carl DelPrete stated. “It’s a strong market, and it gives us an opportunity to introduce Uncle Giuseppe’s to a lot of new customers.”
The Pennsylvania entry represents a geographic expansion for a company that currently operates 13 locations across New York and New Jersey. Uncle Giuseppe’s opened a Greenvale, New York, store at Wheatley Plaza in August and expects to open another marketplace in Levittown, New York, late this year.
The King of Prussia store is expected to carry the same mix of prepared and traditional grocery products offered at the company’s existing locations. Departments are expected to include produce, meat and seafood, an Italian deli, bakery, prepared foods, specialty cheeses and imported Italian products, along with conventional grocery items and catering.
The company also makes several products in its stores, including mozzarella, pasta, breads and pastries, a model that distinguishes its marketplaces from conventional supermarkets.
DelPrete stated that the company evaluates potential markets rather than expanding solely to increase its store count.
“It’s not about opening stores just to open stores,” he stated. “The location has to make sense, and we have to be confident that we can deliver the same quality and experience customers expect from Uncle Giuseppe’s.”
The King of Prussia opening will coincide with another expansion into the Philadelphia-area market. Uncle Giuseppe’s plans to open its Moorestown marketplace at 1311 Nixon Drive in East Gate Square, extending its New Jersey operations into the southern part of the state.
Hiring has already begun for both planned stores, according to the company. Positions include management and jobs in deli, bakery, meat, seafood, prepared foods, produce, grocery and customer service.
