PHILADELPHIA, PA — Janney Montgomery Scott LLC has opened a Houston office and recruited four financial advisors overseeing nearly $3.5 billion in client assets, expanding the Philadelphia-based wealth management firm’s Texas operations as it competes for established advisory practices.
The Houston expansion follows Janney’s entry into Texas in 2025, when it established a Dallas office and recruited West Haven Private Wealth. The latest additions give the firm a second office in the state and extend its recruiting efforts into another major wealth management market.
The new office includes the Edwards Fitzpatrick Group, led by Sean Fitzpatrick and James “Jim” Edwards, both managing directors of investments. Christin Simon, vice president of investments, and senior registered private client associate Allison Spinelli are also joining the group.
Lance Murphy, senior vice president of wealth management, joins the Houston office as a financial advisor.
All four advisors previously worked with Raymond James, according to Janney.
The nearly $3.5 billion figure represents client assets collectively managed by the incoming advisors, rather than assets acquired directly by Janney.
Kevin Reed, president of Janney’s Private Client Group, identified Houston and the broader Texas market as priorities for the firm’s expansion.
“Their decisions to join Janney demonstrate why experienced advisors are choosing our firm: greater flexibility, personalized support, and the capabilities they need to serve complex clients and continue growing,” Reed said.
The recruitment reflects Janney’s strategy of expanding its wealth management business by attracting established advisors with existing client relationships.
Fitzpatrick said his group evaluated competing firms before selecting Janney, citing access to leadership, operational support and resources for serving clients.
Janney plans to pursue additional recruiting opportunities in Houston and elsewhere in Texas, according to Frank Amigo, the firm’s Gulf regional director.
The Houston office extends Janney’s geographic footprint as the firm seeks to increase its presence in Texas through advisor recruitment and the addition of established wealth management practices.
