PHILADELPHIA, PA — Cybersecurity provider Outpost24 has introduced direct online purchasing for its PCI Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) service, allowing smaller merchants worldwide to obtain required payment-card security assessments without sales negotiations or procurement delays.
The self-service option covers organizations with up to five websites, domains or other internet-facing systems, providing a faster route to compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements.
The launch addresses changes under PCI DSS version 4, which expanded external vulnerability scanning requirements to merchants using Self-Assessment Questionnaire A. That category includes online businesses that outsource payment processing to third-party providers.
Although those merchants do not directly process card payments, vulnerabilities in their websites can still expose customers’ payment information before transactions reach the payment processor.
Outpost24’s new purchasing system allows businesses to view prices, select the number of assets requiring assessment and complete transactions online. Customers can begin configuring scans within minutes of purchase, according to the company.
Each license includes quarterly PCI assessments and unlimited rescans for the licensed asset, allowing businesses to verify that identified vulnerabilities have been corrected without purchasing additional scans.
The service uses Outpost24’s proprietary scanning technology to identify externally accessible vulnerabilities and provide remediation guidance.
Once an assessment meets PCI requirements, customers can download an Attestation of Scan Compliance directly from the company’s portal.
“Outsourcing your payments doesn’t outsource the risk,” said Omri Kletter, Outpost24’s interim chief executive officer and chief product officer. “If attackers compromise your website, they can steal card details before your payment provider ever sees them.”
The self-service model changes how smaller businesses purchase a compliance service that has traditionally involved obtaining quotes and coordinating with sales representatives.
Outpost24 has operated as a PCI Approved Scanning Vendor for more than 20 years and serves more than 3,000 customers across over 65 countries.
The online purchasing option is available globally, extending the company’s existing scanning service to organizations seeking to manage compliance assessments independently.
