Three I-95 Trouble Spots Could Upend Northeast Philly Nights

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers on Interstate 95 should prepare for several nights of lane and ramp restrictions beginning Tuesday, September 8, as crews adjust barriers, repair lighting, and install signs in Northeast Philadelphia.

From 8:00 PM Tuesday until 6:00 AM Wednesday, the left lane of southbound I-95 will close between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue interchanges for barrier adjustments.

Lighting repairs will bring nightly lane closures to southbound I-95 between Bridge Street and Allegheny Avenue from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Tuesday through Friday nights.

From 8:00 PM Wednesday until 6:00 AM Thursday, northbound I-95 will face lane closures between Allegheny Avenue and the Betsy Ross Bridge for barrier adjustments and sign installation. The left lane of the ramp from northbound I-95 to the Betsy Ross Bridge will also close.

The barrier work will prepare I-95 for a late-September traffic shift. Three northbound lanes will move into the median for approximately two years while PennDOT reconstructs and widens the highway between Tioga Street and Wheatsheaf Lane. Four southbound lanes are expected to remain open through that work zone.
