PennDOT said Ritner Street will be closed around the clock between Swanson Street and Front Street from Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to use either Swanson Street, Wolf Street, and Front Street or Swanson Street, Shunk Street, and Front Street to travel around the work zone and reconnect with Ritner Street.
Local access for residents and businesses will remain available throughout the project.
Drivers traveling through the area should expect changing traffic patterns and possible delays along the detour routes. Plan extra time and consider alternate routes, particularly during peak travel periods.
The closure is part of a $60.4 million PennDOT program to perform high-priority repairs on interstate bridges throughout the Philadelphia region. Work includes repairs to bridge decks, structural steel, concrete components, expansion joints, bearings, guiderails, sign supports, and roadway lighting upgrades.
PennDOT said the broader effort is intended to preserve the safety, reliability, and long-term functionality of critical transportation corridors across the region.
All scheduled work is weather dependent.
