PHILADELPHIA, PA — Finding original artwork in Philadelphia does not have to mean spending thousands of dollars. This summer, one of the city’s most beloved creative traditions returns to South Kensington with hundreds of affordable works, dozens of local artists, and a full afternoon dedicated to celebrating Philadelphia’s thriving arts scene.
InLiquid’s annual Art for the Cash Poor returns on Saturday, June 13, transforming the Crane Arts Building and surrounding outdoor spaces into a massive open-air art market featuring more than 120 local artists and craftspeople.
Now celebrating its 26th year, the event has become known as Philadelphia’s largest affordable art fair, with every piece priced at $250 or less. From paintings and photography to jewelry, ceramics, clothing, sculpture, prints, and handmade home goods, visitors will have the chance to meet artists directly while shopping for one-of-a-kind work.
“For twenty-five years, Art for the Cash Poor has celebrated Philadelphia’s incredible creative energy by giving artists a platform to share and sell their work directly to the public,” said InLiquid Founder and Executive Director Rachel Zimmerman. “Whether you’re a seasoned collector or buying your very first piece, this is about discovering something meaningful and supporting the artists who make our city so vibrant.”
Unlike many large art fairs, artists participating in Art for the Cash Poor keep 100 percent of their sales, creating a direct connection between creators and the community that supports them.
Organizers say the event is designed for everyone — longtime collectors, casual shoppers, families, and anyone curious about Philadelphia’s arts community. Attendees are also encouraged to explore nearby restaurants and local businesses throughout South Kensington and the surrounding neighborhoods while visiting the festival.
