LANCASTER, PA — For more than two decades, Dave Collins has supplied the soundtrack to Lancaster baseball. This September, fans will have a chance to celebrate the longtime broadcaster as he prepares to step away from the booth at the end of the 2026 season.
Collins, the voice of the Lancaster Stormers since the franchise’s inaugural 2005 season, will retire after calling more than 2,700 games and chronicling the organization’s evolution from the Lancaster Barnstormers to the Stormers.
His final season has been designated the Dave Collins Farewell Tour, with Dave Collins Night scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, at Penn Medicine Park. The first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative Dave Collins bobblehead, sponsored by Rodgers & Associates.
For longtime listeners, Collins has been a constant through championship runs, late-inning rallies and ordinary summer nights alike. His broadcasts have reached fans on local radio, regional television and digital streams, carrying the atmosphere of the ballpark to people listening from home, work or the road.
He is also known for his signature home run call: “And the walls will not contain it!”
Stormers Manager Ross Peeples described Collins as much more than the team’s broadcaster.
“I can’t even begin to think about not being with Dave for a baseball season,” Peeples said. “Dave has done more for me than I could ever do for him. He has meant so much to me in my time in this organization, and we have become very good friends.”
Peeples also pointed to Collins’ deep institutional knowledge and the many roles he has filled within the organization.
“There has not been a time when I have asked Dave something that he couldn’t give me an answer to,” Peeples said. “He wears many hats in this organization, especially on the baseball side. Dave is a 1st Class Human Being.”
Before joining Lancaster, Collins worked in the Baltimore Orioles organization as the radio voice of the Double-A Bowie Baysox. In Lancaster, he became a fixture across radio stations including WLAN and WPDC, television broadcasts on Blue Ridge Cable-11 and later digital coverage through FloSports.
His tenure has spanned four Atlantic League championship seasons in 2006, 2014, 2022 and 2023.
Collins’ contributions have also extended beyond play-by-play. He has written game recaps and features, hosted manager shows and served in front-office and ambassador roles throughout Lancaster County.
