MEDIA, PA — Student artists will take over the Art Gallery at Delaware County Community College this fall as the annual AFA Foundations Exhibition brings together work created in the college’s introductory art courses.
The exhibition runs Sept. 10 through Oct. 9 at DCCC’s Marple Campus and will feature pieces selected by the college’s full-time art faculty. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., with light refreshments and free admission.
What makes the exhibition especially broad is that not every participating artist is an art major. While many students are enrolled in DCCC’s Art + Design Foundations Certificate program or Associate in Fine Arts programs in Art–Studio or Graphic Design, several first-year art courses can be taken without art prerequisites, opening the show to students from across the college.
That mix gives visitors a look at foundational work from students at different points in their academic paths, while also highlighting the range of creative study available through DCCC.
An independent juror will select standout works for Purchase and Honorable Mention awards. The awards are supported by the college’s Educational Foundation and Campus Life and Athletics Office.
The gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional extended hours planned during Delco Arts Week.
