PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced planned construction activities next week on Interstate 95 bridges in Northeast Philadelphia, necessitating road closures and lane reductions in the surrounding area.
Starting Monday, April 21, through Friday, April 25, Bridge Street will be closed from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between Tacony Street and Aramingo/Harbison Avenue. Detour routes for northbound traffic will utilize Tacony Street and Aramingo Avenue, while southbound motorists will be redirected through Aramingo Avenue, Orthodox Street, LeFevre Street, and Tacony Street.
Additionally, lane closures will occur on northbound Tacony Street between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street from Wednesday, April 23, through Friday, April 25, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
These adjustments are part of PennDOT’s broader I-95/BS2 project, a major reconstruction initiative aimed at improving a critical section of the interstate between Margaret and Carver Streets.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow the posted detours as traffic delays are expected during construction hours.
