NextGen Pathology Adopts AI Platform to Expand Services

Proscia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — NextGen Pathology has selected Proscia’s Concentriq digital pathology platform as part of a strategy to expand subspecialty diagnostic services and strengthen its position in the growing market for pathology support in biopharmaceutical research and precision medicine.

The pathology group, which operates across multiple states using digital image-based workflows, is implementing the platform as demand for specialized pathology services and AI-enabled diagnostics continues to increase.

The move reflects a broader shift across pathology practices toward artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure as healthcare providers seek greater efficiency, collaboration and data integration.

NextGen Pathology was an early adopter of digital pathology, replacing traditional microscope-based workflows with image-based systems that allow pathologists to review and share cases remotely.

The adoption of Concentriq is expected to provide the foundation for incorporating AI tools into routine diagnostic operations while supporting future growth in subspecialty pathology services.

“Concentriq will elevate our pathologists to focus on what they do best and grow the value that we deliver,” founder Dr. Hadi Yaziji said in a statement.

The agreement also has implications beyond clinical diagnostics.

Proscia’s platform is widely used in pharmaceutical research, and NextGen indicated the technology will support efforts to expand its role in drug development and precision medicine programs.

A key component of that strategy is Proscia Aperture, a system designed to connect diagnostic pathology data with research and therapeutic development activities.

The arrangement positions NextGen to participate more directly in a segment of the pathology market that is increasingly influenced by biomarker discovery, targeted therapies and AI-driven data analysis.

Proscia, headquartered in Philadelphia, markets digital pathology software to healthcare providers, research institutions and pharmaceutical companies. The company noted that 16 of the world’s 20 largest pharmaceutical firms use its Concentriq platform.

For NextGen, the investment represents an operational shift toward AI-enabled pathology at a time when pathology data is playing a larger role in clinical decision-making, drug development and precision medicine initiatives.
