EXETER TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has unveiled a new Driver License Center in Exeter Township, Berks County, aimed at improving accessibility to driver licensing and identification services for residents in the area.

Located at 4365 Perkiomen Avenue, the state-of-the-art facility offers a range of services, including same-day REAL ID issuance, driver license renewals, and photo identification. The center is designed to meet federal REAL ID security standards, allowing visitors to complete the processing and receive federally compliant identification cards during their visit. This expansion addresses a longstanding need for more comprehensive services in the greater Reading region.

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll emphasized the commitment to enhancing service delivery, stating that the new location reflects ongoing efforts under Governor Shapiro’s administration to ensure public services are more effective and accessible. The center features ample parking, improved customer amenities, and additional service counters aimed at reducing wait times and better accommodating the community.

The facility will operate Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM. The existing Shillington Driver License Center at 530 E. Lancaster Avenue will remain open, providing additional service options for residents.

This milestone also continues PennDOT’s partnership with UniqueSource Products & Services, offering employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities as photo ID technicians. According to Lisa Biggica, President and CEO of UniqueSource, this collaboration underscores a commitment to creating competitive employment opportunities while delivering exceptional customer service.

With more than 2.5 million Pennsylvanians already participating in the REAL ID program, this new facility ensures the local community is well-positioned to meet the federal deadline of May 7, 2025, when REAL ID-compliant identification will be necessary for domestic flights, military base access, and certain federal facilities.
