LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have added experienced talent to their roster with the acquisition of infielder Brandon Wagner and outfielder Danny Amaral. Manager Ross Peeples announced the signings as critical moves to support the team’s lineup for the current season.
Wagner, 29, brings seven years of professional experience from his time in the New York Yankees organization, where he made a name for himself after being drafted in the sixth round in 2015. His standout season came in 2018, hitting 20 home runs and batting .270 for Class A Tampa. Wagner also reached Class AAA in 2019 and again in 2021, appearing in a combined 59 games at that level. The New Jersey native most recently played 39 games during the Staten Island FerryHawks’ debut season in 2022.
“Wagner has some experience and will help us in a number of roles, as they are needed,” said Peeples.
Amaral, 28, enters the roster with a solid track record in professional baseball, including stints in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies organizations. He reached as high as Class AA Altoona during his time with the Pirates from 2018 to 2022. His more recent experience includes playing for Sioux City and Kansas City in the American Association, where he batted .295 with eight home runs during his time in Sioux City. Amaral began the 2025 season with Dos Laredos in the Mexican League before joining the Stormers.
Amaral also continues a family tradition in Lancaster, following in the footsteps of his brother, Beau, who played for the Stormers in 2017. Their father, Rich Amaral, is a former MLB utility infielder for the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles and has worked as a scout for the Orioles.
“Amaral is a solid player,” said Peeples. “He was in Mexico, not playing much, and reached out to see if we had a spot. He will control the outfield for us.”
Wagner and Amaral were signed to fill the spots of Trace Loehr, currently on the injured list, and Kelly Dugan, who recently retired. Their experience and flexibility are expected to add depth and versatility to the Stormers’ roster as the season progresses.
