PHILADELPHIA, PA — Kang Haggerty LLC has hired veteran trial lawyer David L. Braverman and three members of his former firm, expanding its commercial litigation practice across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
Braverman joins from Braverman Kaskey, where he founded the firm and led its litigation practice from offices at Liberty Place. He will work from Kang Haggerty’s offices at 123 South Broad Street.
The move also brings Peter J. Leyh as of counsel, Kevin W. Burdett as senior counsel and Harrison Fonteix as an associate.
The additions increase Kang Haggerty’s capacity in complex business disputes, including construction, banking, partnerships and real estate matters.
Braverman has nearly five decades of litigation experience and is licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. His prior cases include a multimillion-dollar verdict involving a bank’s fiduciary duty to a borrower, a recovery from the government of Uzbekistan and the resolution of more than $150 million in construction claims tied to a transit guideway replacement.
He has tried cases in more than 15 states, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica and serves as a judge pro tempore in Philadelphia courts.
“Kang Haggerty’s platform — its technology, staffing, and established practice groups — will let us deliver the same personal attention our clients expect, now backed by a broader foundation and expanded capabilities,” Braverman stated.
Leyh focuses on complex commercial litigation, personal injury and medical malpractice. He previously practiced at Dechert Price & Rhoads and is admitted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Burdett concentrates on civil and commercial litigation and previously served as an assistant district attorney, where he handled jury trials.
Fonteix also focuses on complex commercial litigation. His prior experience includes work at Rudolph Clarke LLC and the Philadelphia and Bucks County district attorney’s offices.
Managing Member Edward T. Kang characterized the hires as a strategic addition to the firm’s regional litigation practice.
Braverman indicated that the team’s office location will change but its client relationships and approach to service will remain intact.
