ImageKit Launches Strapi Plugin for Media Management

ImageKit

NEWARK, DE — ImageKit announced the release of a plugin for Strapi CMS that integrates the company’s image optimization, transformation, and AI-powered digital asset management tools directly into Strapi workflows.

The plugin, available for Strapi v5 and later, is designed to reduce duplicate media handling by allowing users to access and manage ImageKit-hosted assets within the Strapi content management system.

The integration addresses a common workflow issue for teams using both platforms, where assets are downloaded from ImageKit and then re-uploaded into Strapi, creating duplicate versions and additional operational overhead.

“Strapi has been a reliable CMS solution for teams across the globe, but media management and delivery needed a specialized solution, and that’s where ImageKit comes in,” Rahul Nanwani, CEO of ImageKit, said in a statement. “By making ImageKit the media backbone behind Strapi CMS, teams get a frictionless workflow, consistently optimized images & videos, a single source of truth for assets, and clearer governance with an AI-powered DAM as they scale.”

According to the company, the plugin allows users to browse ImageKit folders, metadata, and tags directly within Strapi. Teams can also use AI-powered visual search to locate assets and insert them into Strapi’s media library without re-uploading files.

The integration also synchronizes uploads between Strapi and ImageKit. Assets uploaded into Strapi’s media library can automatically be pushed into designated ImageKit folders with predefined tags, which the company said is intended to improve asset reuse and governance across projects.

ImageKit said media assets referenced through the plugin are delivered using ImageKit URLs rather than copied into Strapi’s native file storage. The assets are then automatically optimized and distributed through ImageKit’s content delivery network.

The plugin also supports signed URLs with configurable expiration settings for organizations requiring controlled access to media assets.

ImageKit said companies can connect existing Strapi media storage to the platform as an external web server, allowing stored assets to be optimized and transformed through ImageKit’s infrastructure while remaining accessible through Strapi workflows.

The company said the integration is intended to help businesses manage increasing volumes of visual content while maintaining centralized media governance and delivery performance.
