ImageKit Launches Folder-Level Governance Feature for Media Assets

ImageKit

NEWARK, DE — ImageKit has introduced a new “Path policy” feature that enables businesses to apply governance rules at the folder level within its digital asset management platform.

The feature is available to enterprise customers and is designed to standardize how media assets and metadata are managed across teams and projects.

Path policies allow organizations to assign rules to specific folders, automatically applying those rules to files and subfolders, including requirements for metadata, file types, and naming conventions.

The system also enables restrictions on actions such as deleting, renaming, or modifying assets within governed folders.

“Media governance needs to scale with how businesses actually organize and ship visual content,” said Rahul Nanwani, chief executive officer of ImageKit.

The feature includes controls for defining required or read-only metadata fields, setting default values, and enforcing upload policies, such as file size limits or automated processing functions.

Policies extend automatically to subfolders, allowing organizations to manage large media libraries without applying rules to individual files.

The feature builds on ImageKit’s existing tools, including role-based access controls, audit logs, and structured asset grouping.
