PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers in Northeast Philadelphia should prepare for periodic delays next week as overhead bridge construction tied to the Interstate 95 reconstruction project affects several local streets.

According to PennDOT, periodic weekday lane closures with flagging may occur from Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, at multiple locations beneath and adjacent to the I-95 corridor.
The affected areas include:
- Venango Street between Bath Street and East Allen Street.
- Castor Avenue between Richmond Street and the I-95 North on-ramp.
- Richmond Street between Wheatsheaf Lane and East Butler Street.
- Wheatsheaf Lane between Richmond Street and East Thompson Street.
Traffic will be directed through the work zones by flaggers as crews perform overhead bridge construction associated with the ongoing I-95 reconstruction effort.
No detours have been announced, but motorists should expect delays as traffic slows through active work areas. Plan extra time for travel and seek alternate routes when possible, particularly during the morning and afternoon hours.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be adjusted if conditions warrant.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $311 million I-95/AF3 project, which will reconstruct and widen approximately 1.3 miles of Interstate 95 in both directions between Tioga Street and Wheatsheaf Lane.
Drivers traveling in Northeast Philadelphia are encouraged to remain alert for flagging operations, changing traffic patterns, and construction crews working near the roadway.
