GRMA Launches New Program to Enhance Dietary Supplement Integrity

Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA) has announced the launch of its Dietary Supplement Product Integrity Program, a major initiative aimed at enhancing trust and transparency in the dietary supplement industry. This program is supported by strategic partnerships with the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and HealthLOQ.

These partnerships bring advanced technological solutions and rigorous assessment expertise to the program. ANAB, recognized as the largest multi-disciplinary ISO/IEC 17011 accreditation body in North America, will play a critical role in the initiative. They will provide skilled assessors to carry out program requirements and evaluate laboratories in both manufacturing facilities and independent labs. This independent evaluation is designed to foster confidence in laboratory testing, ultimately bolstering consumer protection.

HealthLOQ contributes its blockchain technology to the program, which is essential for document protection and credential validation. This technology enhances the transparency and traceability of products throughout their lifecycle, ensuring that testing reports are authentic and generated from certified facilities. It also maintains confidentiality between report sharers and customers, strengthening trust within the supply chain.

Allyn Shultis, Executive Director of GRMA, emphasized the significance of these partnerships, stating that the collaborations with ANAB and HealthLOQ represent a substantial advancement for the industry. These efforts allow for a more comprehensive assessment of labs’ capabilities, ensuring their test methods are suitable for specific dietary supplements—a major step forward for ensuring product integrity.

Jason Stine, ANAB’s vice president for inspection, laboratory, and related activities, noted the importance of their role in building trust through competent assessments, enhancing consumer protection.
