FuturePlan, Voya Launch Pooled Retirement Plan Offering

FuturePlan by Ascensus

DRESHER, PA — FuturePlan by Ascensus and Voya Financial have launched a new pooled employer plan designed to give businesses access to shared retirement plan administration while maintaining investment flexibility and fiduciary oversight.

The companies introduced the PATH Pooled Employer Plan, or PATH PEP, as demand grows for retirement plan structures that reduce administrative burdens for employers while consolidating key fiduciary and operational responsibilities.

The offering combines services from multiple retirement industry providers.

Under the arrangement, Voya Financial will serve as recordkeeper and trustee, while Mesirow will provide 3(38) investment fiduciary services. FuturePlan will act as the pooled plan provider, third-party administrator, and 3(16) administrative fiduciary.

The structure is intended to allow participating employers to join a single retirement plan framework rather than maintaining separate plans, an approach that can streamline administration and compliance responsibilities.

Kasey Price, president of FuturePlan, indicated the program is designed to extend pooled plan capabilities to larger and more complex organizations while preserving investment flexibility for advisors.

“We’re delivering a scalable solution that strengthens governance while preserving choice,” Price stated.

The launch reflects continued growth in the pooled employer plan market following federal legislation that expanded the use of multiple-employer retirement plans and created new opportunities for providers to offer consolidated retirement plan structures.

Christina Buettel, vice president of specialty sales and sales strategy at Voya Financial, stated that the collaboration is intended to help employers and advisors manage retirement plan complexity while maintaining fiduciary standards.

PATH PEP supports an open-architecture investment approach that allows greater discretion for financial advisors, according to the companies.
