BLUE BELL, PA — EyePromise has launched a new preservative-free artificial tear aimed at eye care professionals, expanding its presence in the dry eye market with a product positioned as a complement to the company’s existing nutritional and eyelid hygiene offerings.
The product, called Heyedrate Clinical, is designed to provide temporary relief for patients experiencing dry eye symptoms and is compatible with contact lens use, according to the company.
The launch marks EyePromise’s entry into a segment of the eye care market dominated by over-the-counter lubricating drops, where manufacturers increasingly compete on formulation technology, duration of relief, and clinical evidence.
EyePromise said the product uses povidone and Hylan A, a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid formulation intended to increase tear film retention and improve hydration on the eye’s surface.
The company cited guidance from the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society’s Dry Eye Workshop III indicating that higher molecular weight hyaluronic acid formulations have demonstrated advantages over lower molecular weight alternatives in animal studies.
According to EyePromise, a multicenter randomized trial found users of Heyedrate Clinical reduced daily eye drop usage by 27% over an eight-week period compared with no change among users of other artificial tears.
The company also reported that 77% of study participants experienced improved Ocular Surface Disease Index scores after four weeks of use, representing a 26% improvement versus a control group.
The release did not provide details regarding the trial’s sample size, peer-review status, or publication history.
Dr. Kimberly Friedman, EyePromise’s chief medical education officer, said the formulation is based on technology that has been used in Europe for more than a decade.
“As clinicians, we’re always looking for solutions that meaningfully improve patient outcomes, and this formulation provides robust hydration and stability that patient outcomes clearly reflect,” Friedman said.
EyePromise said the product is intended to be used alongside its De3 Omega Benefits nutritional supplement and Avenova Lid & Lash Cleansing Spray as part of a broader approach to managing occasional dry eye symptoms.
The launch broadens the company’s product portfolio as demand for dry eye treatments continues to increase alongside aging demographics, rising screen use, and growing contact lens adoption.
