NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man’s body was discovered Saturday morning in a retention pond at Christiana Hospital.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded at approximately 10:30 a.m. July 18 to Christiana Hospital, 4755 Ogletown Stanton Road, following a report of a deceased person found in a retention pond near the hospital’s entrance.
When troopers arrived, police reported they found the body of a 30-year-old Wilmington man in shallow water along the edge of the pond.
State police stated that, because of the suspicious nature of the death, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Authorities reported the victim’s body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, which will determine the cause and manner of death.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
