NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — EKHO Infrastructure Solutions has expanded its North American retaining wall business by integrating Ground Improvement Systems and Structured Soils Inc. and acquiring the ARES wall system from Tensar Corp., giving the company access to additional state-approved infrastructure markets.
ARES is approved in 37 states, including Pennsylvania, California, New York, Ohio and Florida, according to EKHO. The acquisition adds a geosynthetic-reinforced mechanically stabilized earth system to the company’s existing steel-reinforced offerings.
The broader product portfolio allows EKHO to pursue projects where corrosion concerns, engineering specifications or the use of native onsite backfill favor synthetic soil reinforcement. The company is targeting transportation, rail, heavy civil and commercial construction work across the U.S. and Canada.
“With 37 state approvals, the addition of the ARES product line significantly expands EKHO’s reach within the U.S. retaining wall market,” Chief Operating Officer Justin Wexler stated.
Wexler noted that the approval footprint provides EKHO with immediate access to markets where it previously lacked a geosynthetic retaining wall product.
Ground Improvement Systems and Structured Soils bring engineering and technical capabilities in mechanically stabilized earth systems, geotechnical design, soil reinforcement and retaining walls. EKHO stated that both businesses have experience supporting transportation and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
The additions mark a further push by EKHO into the U.S. earth-retention market, a segment the company has only recently begun expanding into. Financial terms of the ARES acquisition and the integrations were not disclosed.
