PHILADELPHIA, PA — More than 1,200 people dressed as pickles could make history in South Philadelphia as The Big Dill returns to its hometown with a massive National Pickle Day celebration featuring unusual foods, live music, outrageous contests and a world record attempt.

The Big Dill, billed as the World’s Largest Pickle Party, will take over Stateside Live! at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, with festivities continuing until 9 p.m. Admission times vary by ticket package, with early-entry activities beginning at noon.

The event marks the finale of The Big Dill’s 2026 “In My Pickle Era” national tour, bringing a celebration that began in Philadelphia in 2018 back to the city where it originated.

Organizers expect visitors from across the country, with ticket buyers representing 38 states and Washington, D.C. According to the event’s organizers, 84% of ticket buyers live outside Philadelphia, creating an opportunity for local businesses to benefit from the influx of visitors.

Philadelphia Pickle Lovers Aim for a World Record

The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Parade of the Pickles, an attempt to establish a world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as pickles.

Organizers hope to assemble 1,200 participants wearing individually numbered pickle costumes supplied by Imposta Costumes, the event’s official costume sponsor.

The attempt is intended to surpass a published record involving 888 people dressed as fruits or vegetables in Japan in 2017. The Philadelphia effort will focus exclusively on pickle costumes.

The first 1,200 ticket buyers are eligible to receive numbered costumes with commemorative patches and an official photograph documenting their participation. Organizers plan to independently verify the final count.

“Over the past couple of years, pickles went from the side of the plate to the top of pop culture, and Pennsylvania sits at the center of it all,” said Kevin Baxter, co-founder of The Big Dill.

“Between Picklesburgh in the western part of the state and The Big Dill in the east, no region anywhere celebrates the pickle like we do.”

More Than 100 Pickle Varieties and 50 Food Vendors

Food lovers will find plenty to sample along Pickle Row, where 20 pickle vendors will offer unlimited tastings of more than 100 varieties, included with every admission ticket.

The selection ranges from classic dill and sweet pickles to spicy creations and specialty flavors.

Local and regional participants include Fishtown Pickle Project, Delco Dills, Penny Pickles, Philadelphia Pickle Company, Grasshoppers Wicked Pickles, Green Kamikozee’s and Jersey Pickles.

Beyond traditional pickles, more than 50 food vendors will serve dishes ranging from pickle pizza and pierogies to pickle egg rolls, grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, wings, nachos and desserts.

Visitors can also try pickle milkshakes from Nifty Fifty’s, pickle lemonade from Thirst Trap and pickle-flavored popcorn from Pop!Fusion.

Other participating vendors include Dymski Pierogies, Madi’s On A Roll, Humpty’s Dumplings, Hunt’s, Underground Pizza, Bang Cookies and Wild Bill’s Soda.

Guests who prefer traditional festival foods will find additional selections from participating vendors and Stateside Live! restaurants.

For attendees 21 and older, specialty beverages will include pickle margaritas, Jameson Picklebacks, pickle-infused vodka shots and pickle beer from Philadelphia’s Evil Genius Beer Company.

Pickle Raves, Live Music and Unusual Contests

The Big Dill combines its food offerings with a full schedule of entertainment.

DJ Jay Roy will lead the Pickle RAVE dance party, while Shot of Southern and the South Philly String Band will perform live. Additional music will come from DJs Andrew Hugh and Big Country.

The World Pickle Eating Championship will bring professional eaters together for a competitive showdown, while the Brine Chug Challenge will test contestants’ ability to drink pickle juice.

Visitors can also participate in the Pickle UP! interactive game show, ride a mechanical pickle and meet the Pickle Priest, a social media personality known for blessing pickles.

A 25-foot inflatable pickle jar named Big Brine will provide a towering backdrop for photographs.

“This isn’t a festival where you walk around with a paper plate. It’s a party,” Baxter said. “You can dance at a pickle rave, ride a mechanical pickle, get your pickle blessed by a priest and march in a parade of more than a thousand people dressed as pickles.”

A Pickle Party With a Purpose

The celebration will also support Comfort Zone Camp, a nonprofit organization serving children experiencing grief.

Through the “Grief Is a Big Dill” campaign, Imposta Costumes, runner and social media personality Morgan, known as @picklegirlruns, and Comfort Zone Camp are connecting National Pickle Day with Children’s Grief Awareness Day on Nov. 19.

Morgan, who previously completed a marathon dressed as a pickle to raise awareness for grieving children, will lead a Mini Run to the Philadelphia event.

Supporters can also contribute to the campaign by using promotional code CZCPICKLE when purchasing merchandise from Imposta Costumes.

The initiative adds a charitable component to the festivities while drawing attention to resources for children coping with loss.

VIP Brunch and Early Admission Options

Guests seeking an expanded experience can purchase a VIP package that includes early admission, a private brunch and an open bar.

The VIP Pickle Brunch will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at 1100 Social, with DJ Smooth providing entertainment.

The menu includes breakfast favorites, a burrito bar, fried pickles, charcuterie, dill pickle bagels and a chocolate fountain. The VIP open bar operates from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Other ticket packages offer different admission times, allowing visitors to choose between early access and standard entry.

A Philadelphia Tradition Comes Full Circle

The Big Dill began with a sold-out Philadelphia event in 2018 before expanding into a national touring attraction.

Its return coincides with National Pickle Day falling on a Saturday, a calendar alignment organizers note will not happen again until 2037.

The celebration also follows a more than $20 million expansion of Stateside Live! completed in May 2026, providing an updated setting for the event.

For Baxter and his team, bringing the tour finale home represents an opportunity to celebrate the community that helped launch the concept.

“Philly has always shown up for us, so we saved the biggest day of the year for the city that started it all,” Baxter said.

Whether visitors come for the food, dancing, contests or the chance to join a crowd of costumed pickle enthusiasts, the celebration promises an unusual National Pickle Day experience with a distinctly Philadelphia personality.
