- Dates: Monday, June 15, through Tuesday, June 16
- Times: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Reason: Sign installation
PennDOT said a lane closure will be in place at the intersection of Route 291 (Industrial Highway) and Scott Way/Bartram Avenue, extending approximately 500 feet in all directions from the intersection.
The restrictions are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, while crews install roadway signs.
No detour has been announced. Drivers should expect reduced traffic capacity through the work zone and possible backups during the daytime closure periods. Plan extra time and consider alternate routes if delays develop.
The sign installation is part of PennDOT’s $26.5 million project to replace the twin bridges carrying Route 291 over Conrail tracks in Tinicum Township.
According to PennDOT, the existing bridge will be replaced with a new two-span steel plate girder structure that will be approximately nine feet wider than the current bridge. The replacement structure will carry two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, eight-foot shoulders, and include space for a future multiuse trail protected by a concrete barrier on the eastbound side.
Additional improvements include repairs to roadway approaches and the installation of new pavement markings, guiderail, traffic signals, and signage at the Scott Way/Bartram Avenue intersection.
J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen is the general contractor on the federally funded project.
All scheduled work is weather dependent.
