PHILADELPHIA, PA — Comcast NBCUniversal is using the upcoming release of Illumination’s Minions & Monsters to promote Xfinity’s retail and membership offerings, including a recently launched same-day internet activation service, through a nationwide marketing campaign spanning more than 700 stores.

The company announced a summer promotion that combines in-store experiences, movie-related rewards, and member-exclusive perks tied to the theatrical release of Minions & Monsters, scheduled for July 1.

The campaign also serves as a marketing platform for Xfinity’s Same-Day WiFi service, which allows new internet customers to obtain equipment through store pickup or, in some markets, same-day home delivery.

According to Comcast, Xfinity retail locations will feature augmented reality experiences and movie-themed installations through July 5, allowing visitors to interact with characters from the film and access digital content.

The promotion includes limited-edition merchandise, including collectible pins and T-shirts, available while supplies last. Certain items will be reserved for Platinum and Diamond-level Xfinity members.

The company is also extending the promotion beyond its retail footprint through its Xfinity Membership program.

Members will receive access to a $5 Fandango Movie Cash offer, opportunities to purchase tickets to advance screenings, and downloadable digital content through the Xfinity app.

Diamond-tier members will be eligible to enter drawings for VIP screening events in Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco.

The campaign coincides with Comcast’s broader rollout of Same-Day WiFi service, which the company recently introduced in select markets and plans to expand nationwide.

The service is designed to allow customers to sign up for internet service, receive equipment, and activate home WiFi on the same day.

The Minions-themed promotion is part of Comcast’s effort to leverage entertainment assets from NBCUniversal to drive customer engagement across its telecommunications business.

The company said the initiative is the latest example of how Xfinity Membership is being used to provide customers with access to entertainment, events, discounts, and promotional experiences tied to Comcast NBCUniversal properties.
