FORT WASHINGTON, PA — Amtech Software is moving its Label Traxx enterprise resource planning platform to the cloud and adding analytics and material-tracking capabilities, shifting more technology administration and production oversight into the system used by label and flexible-packaging converters.
The Fort Washington-based software company introduced three enhancements: Label Traxx on the Cloud, Amtech Visual Analytics and a Track & Trace module designed to follow materials from their arrival at a plant through finished shipments.
The cloud version moves Label Traxx from customer-managed servers to a browser-based environment operated by Amtech. Existing functions, navigation and fields will remain consistent with the on-premise product, reducing the need for users to retrain employees as they migrate.
Amtech expects existing customer data and workflows to move through automated migration routines rather than requiring customers to manage the transition themselves.
The change also transfers responsibility for backups, fail-over systems, software upgrades and cybersecurity infrastructure from individual converters to Amtech.
“Most cloud ERP conversations in this industry are really conversations about replacing your system,” Danna Nelson, Amtech’s senior vice president of product, explained. “That is not what this is.”
Amtech plans to accept a limited number of converters into a Cloud Starter edition in November, with a broader rollout scheduled for early 2027.
The company is also adding Amtech Visual Analytics, or AVA, which connects with the Label Traxx data warehouse and provides preconfigured dashboards covering financial and operational performance.
Users can move from aggregate performance data into underlying information for more detailed analysis. AVA can also schedule and distribute reports in Excel and PDF formats and allows customers to build customized reporting views.
The Track & Trace module extends Label Traxx’s existing roll-control capabilities into work in process, creating a material history from purchase order through customer shipment.
The system records attributes including material dimensions, location, parent material, lineal feet used, slitting lane, press and operator. Finished rolls retain information about their source material, while cartons and pallets can be serialized against shipping manifests.
That capability is intended to narrow the scope of investigations when manufacturers encounter defective material or recalls. A converter can trace a problem backward to a source roll and then identify the rolls, orders and shipments that used the same material.
“Many of our customers are being asked to track the lineage of a finished roll including the raw material rolls it was produced from, the lane on which it was printed and the pieces of equipment on which it was produced,” Grant Emison, Amtech’s head of labels products, noted.
Emison described paper records and spreadsheets as “uncertain and expensive” for managing that information, with Track & Trace designed to capture the production history directly within Label Traxx.
