PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania’s Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, along with other state officials and community health experts, convened at the Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg on Monday to remind residents of the upcoming deadline for Pennie’s open enrollment. The last day to enroll in health coverage that will start on Jan. 1, 2024, is Dec. 15, 2023.

Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace, offers financial savings to help reduce the cost of coverage and care. Notably, nine out of 10 enrollees qualify for savings, with an average monthly saving of over $500. The cost for coverage through Pennie is based on income, ensuring affordability for individuals at different income levels.

During the open enrollment period, individuals can apply and enroll in coverage from top insurance companies with financial savings. Since plans and prices change annually, residents who need coverage are urged to review their options. All health plans offered through Pennie provide comprehensive coverage, including care for pre-existing conditions and free preventive screenings and vaccines.

Pennie also ensures better coordination with Medicaid. For those who no longer qualify for Medicaid due to changes in income, significant savings on private health plans through Pennie are available.

“Your health is too important to go without coverage, and fortunately, Pennsylvanians have options,” said Department of Human Services Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh. The department assists individuals who are no longer eligible for Medicaid by securely transferring them to Pennie to choose a new health plan.

As the open enrollment deadline looms, Pennsylvanians are encouraged to act quickly to secure the best cost savings and ensure they and their loved ones are covered in the new year. More information about Pennie’s open enrollment and options for those no longer eligible for Medicaid can be found on Pennie’s official website.
