BEAR, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested a Newark man in connection with an armed robbery that took place in May at a busy shopping center in Bear, while a second suspect remains at large. Authorities are urging the public to assist in locating the outstanding individual.
On May 19, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Salem Center, located at 1693 Pulaski Highway. According to investigators, the incident began as an argument between the victim and one suspect. During the confrontation, a second suspect approached and displayed a handgun. The suspects then allegedly conspired to steal the victim’s vehicle, fleeing the scene in the stolen car.
Through investigative efforts, detectives from Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit identified 37-year-old Calvin Williams of Newark and 20-year-old Daviel Aviles of Middletown as the individuals allegedly responsible for the crime.
On May 30, 2025, detectives, assisted by the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence. Williams was apprehended without incident and transported to Troop 2 for processing.
Williams has been charged with first-degree robbery, a felony offense, and second-degree conspiracy, also a felony. Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $65,000 cash bond.
Meanwhile, Aviles remains at large, and law enforcement officials continue to seek the public’s assistance in locating him. Detectives have issued felony warrants for his arrest, which have been filed by both the Delaware State Police and Middletown Police Department.

All charges are allegations, and both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
