HOUTZDALE, PA — The State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale is currently under scrutiny following the death of inmate Anthony James Raimo. The 37-year-old was discovered unresponsive in his cell in the early hours of October 8, 2024. Despite immediate intervention by prison staff and medical personnel, Raimo was pronounced dead at 2:25 a.m.

The Clearfield County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for ascertaining the official cause of death. Their findings will form a critical component of the investigation, which seeks clarity and accountability within the state’s correctional system.
Both legal authorities and the public will closely watch the outcome of the investigation, as it may have implications for policies and procedures within the prison system.
