YARDLEY, PA — The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has embarked on an ambitious initiative to showcase Pennsylvania as the quintessential destination for fall enthusiasts through the launch of the “It’s Fall-ier in PA Swagon.” This unique campaign, which highlights the state’s picturesque autumn scenery and cultural offerings, aims to bolster tourism and contribute to Pennsylvania’s thriving economy.

The Swagon, a charming hay wagon and rustic trailer, promises to deliver an immersive fall experience. Designed to capture the essence of autumn in Pennsylvania, it will feature the vibrant colors of the season, alongside pumpkins and corn husks, providing a sensory journey through the state’s fall landscape. Visitors to the Swagon will have the opportunity to indulge in locally-made treats and savor seasonal scents from custom candles, all while receiving updates on the best locations to enjoy Pennsylvania’s renowned fall foliage.

Governor Josh Shapiro, in support of the campaign, recently visited Black Moshannon State Park, one of the state’s numerous free parks, where he unveiled innovative color-correcting viewfinders designed to aid colorblind visitors in appreciating the state’s vibrant foliage. “We’re excited to take Pennsylvania’s fabulous fall season on the road to encourage and inspire more people to experience all that the Commonwealth has to offer,” stated DCED Deputy Secretary of Tourism Anne Ryan.

The campaign underscores the significant economic impact of fall tourism, a vital sector contributing $76.7 billion annually to Pennsylvania’s economy. By showcasing the state’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, the Swagon aims to entice millions living within a four-hour drive to explore Pennsylvania’s autumn offerings.

The Swagon’s journey commenced with a ceremonial Corn Stalk Cutting at Shady Brook Farm in Bucks County. It is scheduled to travel across Pennsylvania and neighboring states, including New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., through November 11. Stops include popular festivals in Bethlehem and Jim Thorpe, where visitors can engage with the campaign and participate in a photo booth for a chance to win exclusive autumn-themed prizes, including an overnight stay in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

This initiative not only celebrates Pennsylvania’s status as a premier fall destination but also aims to stimulate local economies by attracting tourists to the state’s diverse attractions during the vibrant autumn season.
