HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced legal action against Black Cherry Design, LLP and its owner, Lauren Piasecki, for allegedly failing to fulfill contracts for home renovation projects and not delivering prepaid goods to customers.
The lawsuit, filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County by Deputy Attorney General Jaimie George, stems from numerous consumer complaints against the interior design company. Customers reportedly paid large, upfront sums for services that were never completed, and in some cases, for products that were never ordered.
“Consumers paid this company large, upfront sums for home design jobs that were never completed,” Attorney General Sunday stated. “Black Cherry Design not only failed to deliver the products ordered — in some cases, they never even ordered the goods paid for in full by the customer.”
The Attorney General’s office alleges that Black Cherry Design required customers to prepay the full invoiced amounts for furniture and related design items, appointing the company as a purchasing agent. Many of those items, according to the complaint, were either not delivered or never ordered.
The lawsuit seeks restitution for affected consumers, a declaration that Black Cherry Design violated Pennsylvania’s Consumer Protection Law, and a court order preventing the company and its owner from accepting prepayments for goods.
If you believe you’ve been affected by Black Cherry Designs or Lauren Piasecki, you can take action by filing a complaint online or by contacting the Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-800-441-2555.
